AISB's Accreditation
Posted 01/10/2018 08:13AM

AISB's Accreditation – AISB has received formal notification of its accreditation from the US-based accrediting agency Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. AISB is now officially accredited for a period of seven years and will apply for reaccreditation in the year 2024. The certificate of accreditation is displayed in the school's office.

To be fully accredited in its sixth year is quite an accomplishment for a school as 'young' as AISB. The credit for this success goes to all those who contributed to the process including faculty, staff, students, parents, board members and administration. This is an achievement well worth celebrating and it helps move AISB into a new realm of international recognition both in Congo and throughout Africa.

AISB's Enrollment in the West African International Schools Activities League (WAISAL) – In conjunction with AISB's accreditation, AISB is also eligible to now enroll in the regional sports association that organizes tournaments and other events for students attending international schools in West Africa.

This league coordinates sports tournaments for middle and high school level teams in basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming and many others. They also organize activities to highlight student strengths in Art, Music, Drama, Debate and other similar non-athletic events.

This year we hope to have some of our boys and girls sports teams travel to Lagos, Nigeria and Abidjan, Ivory Coast to take part in tournaments that will be held there. AISB's involvement in these events helps raise AISB's profile amongst the international schools in the region.

AISB as an official SAT Testing Center – Yet another connection to AISB's accreditation is that the school is in the process of registering with the US College Board to become an official SAT testing center for the Republic of Congo. Though the process is still underway and is likely to take a few months, AISB is poised to become the only testing center in the country that is able to administer the SAT exams. Once approved as a testing center, students from AISB and throughout Congo can register for and sit for the different SAT exams that are offered throughout the year. We would also be eligible to administer the PSAT, ACT and we are investigating the possibility of becoming a TOEFL testing center as well. Though these things are still in the future ... they are quite promising for our school.
